Project 365: Day 313 – Back in Beautiful Belgrade

10th May 2015 – Belgrade, Serbia

I may not be home, but there are some places

Around the world, that make me feel so.

I would have never imagined Belgrade in that list.

But my second time here, and now I surely know.

Kalemagdan fortress in Belgrade, Serbia

The train and the fortress – Belgrade, Serbia

Serbia has been one of the most memorable countries for me on this trip. And somehow, coming back here feels like being home again.

So, I found a rather cheap apartment for 3 days, paying only 30 EUR for 3 nights, but slightly out of the city centre. Ok, not slightly. Brace Jerkovich is 8 km out of the city centre! But I managed to walk there with my backpack. Don’t ask me why, but I just wanted to get some exercise!

After settling in, went out to catch up with a friend I know here. Masa was very helpful the last time I came to Belgrade, and this time was no different. We agreed to meet in the Berliner pub in Savamala, but I had a lot of time to kill. So, I went back to the Kalemagdan fortress. Yes, I did visit this in February, but I was surrounded by snow then.

It felt a lot different now, sans any snow.
