16th March 2015 – Vienna, Austria
The first district called me back into its arms And wide spread alleys. I obliged, ever so kindly. But in a little coffee shop around stephansdom, I found there are bigger travellers around, than me.
I went back to the Innere Stadt today, the first district, to spend more time at the old town.
Vienna is easy to commute by feet. Even easier by metro or tram, but I decided to save some money by walking, and get some much needed exercise too. Ju’s place was just a short 20-minute walk anyway.
At innere stadt, in a cafe near Stephansdom, I was conspicuous as a tourist, and started talking to a German girl randomly over coffee. Turns out she just finished a 1-year motorbike tour around South America! One of those moments when life throws curve balls at you, is when you realise that you are not the most travelled guy in an innocuous coffeeshop talk!
Me and Christine then continued to explore the innere stadt together for a bit, clicking around its innumerable alleyways. Then, we joined Ju, and went for a pub quiz in the four bells bar. We sincerely thought that we had a really good chance at winning, since we were getting a lot of correct answers. Turns out that we ended up losing by 4 questions.
I answered some questions, so that I dont feel like the loser for the whole day.
