12th March 2015 – Bratislava, Slovakia
I’ve clicked many buildings on this trip. And I’ve clicked numerous reflections too. But today in a capital that borders 2 nations I am clicking reflections of buildings. Who knew?
I woke up at an ungodly hour of 5 AM, to catch a bus to Bratislava today.
The orange ways bus left from Nepliget in Budapest, which is easily accessible thanks to a stack of metro cards that I had. And the Budapest metro line started from 4.30 AM in the morning too. So on an early morning metro train, I arrived in Nepliget, pretty much alone in the compartment. And to my surprise, there was no minibus to Bratislava!
Turns out, that there was one going to Prague, and Bratislava was on the way. So, Orangeways put me on that minibus where I was the only guy getting down at Bratislava. And after a quick 2 hours, I was in Bratislava.
I was couchsurfing 5 km away, on the other side of the Danube. But it was only 9 AM. So, I decided to walk those 5 KM. A 20 KG Backpack and all!
It was a bittersweet walk though. There are some beautiful buildings on the way and a long bridge cradling the Danube, but the weather was also pretty cold with a little rain. The city has borders with both Austria and Hungary, making this the only national capital to border 2 other countries.
But still, I walked. And even managed to take some pictures on the way of reflections and buildings. And some reflections of buildings.
