Project 365: Day 234 – Ok. I see the blue now!

20th February 2015 – Istanbul, Turkey

I feel like a jetsetter, as I cross from Europe to Asia,
And back. All in the matter of a single day.
And stopped by on the way back, for a little quiet,
when the blue mosque was still blue, and in my way.
blue mosque, istanbul, turkey, travel, photography, travel photography

I see the blue now – Blue mosque, Istanbul

And after 2 days of hell, the snow finally stopped today.

I also managed to find some other friends of mine who were stuck in Istanbul in the snow. Aurelia has already been with me from the last day, but today we were also joined by Isa, my friend from Bursa. And Anita, a couchsurfing friend I know from Singapore.
After seeing a little bit of the European side, we crossed the Bosphorus to go to the Asian side, where Isa was couchsurfing with some cool folks. They let us use their kitchen, and we proceeded to cook up some dinner, downing it with some Raki. Oh, the look on the German girl’s face when she saw Raki being mixed with water for the first time, and seeing the change in colour! Priceless!
After dinner, we caught the 8.30 ferry back to the European side. As it turns out, the blue mosque was still open. Well, not the interior, but the courtyard. And it was also one of those rare times when the mosque was devoid of people.
I had to take a picture. And I finally saw the blue shade properly.
