24th December 2014 – Vadakara, India
The festive season has creeped up on me so soon, And before I knew it, its already Christmas tomorrow. Well, there is merriness in plenty, in the melas of Kerala, Which won over the cold december evening, clearing it of sorrow.
With 2 days to spend in Kerala, and no idea what to do, I was checking around the place for things to pass my time.
I went in the morning for a little workout at the Mahe football grounds. Well, it definitely was little, as I started watching the football after 15 minutes and then just settling down for breakfast. One of the kids at the football ground told me about all the Melas that were happening around the place, because of Christmas.
The Mela is a very uniquely Indian phenomenon. Its large gatherings, where entire amusement parks are constructed overnight, and people set up small shops and start selling stuff of all kinds.
So, I went to a Mela at Sargalaya, which I visited once on this trip before. And true enough, there were giant amusement rides and ferris wheels, all of them almost set up overnight.
I maybe a little too old to ride them, so I sadly had to settle for clicking them instead.
