14th December 2014 – Kolkata, India
The people come by, and make a delightful few days out of nothing. And then they leave. To their own world, and to their own problem. What remains of me is still my motorbike, my own beast. But even that has to go, and I am contemplating rock bottom.
So, Victoria left last night, after an amazing 5 days in Kolkata. With a promise to see again in Maldives. And again in Prague. But because it is people that give you company, and not promises, I am back to the lonely road again.
The road is not long though. My 3 month road trip is actually over. I called up the Bangladesh embassy today, regarding a visa and a riding permit. The visa, no problem. I could even apply it online. But the riding permit, well, the riding permit was a bureaucratic beast. It would take me a week at least to get it, and with no guarantee that I definitely would.
So, I dropped Bangladesh from my plans, because I had to be home for christmas, before a flight to Sri Lanka. I’ve wanted to see Dhaka badly, but guess that will be another day, another time.
The other problem now was, to send my bike back home. I don’t want to ride the 3000 KM stretch from Kolkata to home, because there are no major places to see along the way, except Puri. Hence, the logical decision is to send the bike home.
The rest of the day went comparing the transport costs for the same.
