Project 365: Day 151 – Following the track to Kolkata

29th November 2014 – Barrackpore, India

The fuse created an unknown fear, of the road, and its bumps.
And like the cat that loathes all water, I moved real slow.
Through crowded little towns, and past copious railway tracks,
Until I was in the city of joy. And I will be, for quite a while to go.

There are many ways of using railway tracks in India – Barrackpore, India

I started the day wearily today. I had only 130 KM left to Kolkata, from Krishnanagar, where I bunked the last night. But the episode of the fuse bust had left me extremely cautious about this highway. And since I had no curfew to break, I rode really slowly, almost wading across each bum that came by way.

Nothing much to write about this day. Enroute from Krishnanagar, there are 2 really hectic small towns on the way. One is Chandan nagar, and the other is Barrackpore. These 2 stretches took me a little time to cover, thanks to the crazy traffic on their roads.

At long last, I was in Kolkata. I stopped my ride at Sudder street, the backpacker alley of Kolkata. Found myself a cheap little guesthouse.

Well, more about Sudder street tomorrow.
