I’ve never been a huge fan of F1. The most that I can relate to F1, is Michael Schumacher, and that too from newspapers. Even when F1 started out in India, I was totally enthusiastic about. In fact, I wished that they would put all that money for the F1 preparation into fixing the potholes in India. Well, that was not to be.
So, I was pleasantly surprised when I won 2 tickets to this years Singtel F1 in Singapore. Of all the people, my office had succeeded in finding the one person who knew more about the F1 on a computer keyboard, rather than Formula 1. I was close to giving the tickets away, but just out of curiosity, checked out the schedule of events, and was pleasantly surprised. To my excitement, on the top of the list was a late night concert by maroon 5! I might sound high on the gay-dar for this, but I had to see Adam Levine crying out for ‘one more night’!
So, having made up my mind to go, the next question was whom to go with. I’d just landed in Singapore and had very few friends, so asked those few. No luck. Finally one of my friends set me up on a blind date with a cute girl, who shared my ignorance towards F1, and adoration towards Maroon 5.
We reached early deliberately, just to find out what the F1 was all about. And my emotions towards it, started pretty much the same. Big boys playing with big toys, that officially blasted the decimal levels out of the roof. It was so loud, and I had forgotten to buy ear plugs also. My ears died a silent death for the next couple of hours. The best part was that, I got to try some awesome panning shots in the race.
Around 10 pm, we left the race stands, and proceeded to the event venue. The concert should have started at 11, but was delayed by 30 minutes. Who cares? There was Adam Levine on the stage already 🙂 Too bad, I was stationed pretty far from the stage, and ended up with long-range shots.
